Trauma is a deeply rooted problem leading to high rates of depression, anxiety, addiction, relational difficulties, domestic violence, and even suicide. Countless women and men struggle silently with painful feelings for years after their distressing experiences. People who participate in our programs begin a life-changing, healing journey that helps them reclaim their dignity and renew their spiritual, emotional, and family lives.
Our distinct, healing retreat programs are transforming the harsh realities of “global mourning.” In a world that’s understandably concerned about climate change, pollution, and waste, there are global traumas that are also destroying our families, relationships, and children. These cannot be dismissed, either. Our programs provide hope, love, and truth to people who have suffered the deep traumatic violations associated with abuse, the loss of their children to abortion, or the scars of battle suffered by veterans and first responders.
Dr. Burke’s healing programs were the first sensory-based treatments to combine psychological and spiritual care for the soul. In our retreats, participants explain what happened to them and how their traumatic experiences may have disconnected them from their very selves and from the truth of their situation. By looking at their survival modes and triggers (while remaining in the present moment), they become vulnerable and authentic—many of them for the first time in their lives. They discover their strength; peace and safety settle in their bodies; their freedom and self-compassion are restored; and their shame is replaced with the great dignity of their souls.
Mourning and grieving are necessary milestones that must be passed through, so our lives may continue in peace and freedom. When this process is complete, there is new life within our spirit that gives us hope for the future.
Rachel’s VineyardTM , Grief to GraceTM , and Duty to HealTM are based on the latest psychological and Judeo-Christian principles, facilitated with professional excellence and compassion, and open to people of all faiths. Our retreat programs are offered in a safe, confidential, non-judgmental group format and have been called “therapy for the soul.”
